Bus drivers on strike again

Bus Strike Antelope Valley

In an effort to resolve their ongoing labor dispute, AVTA’s contracted operator Transdev, and Teamsters Local 848 will meet on Wednesday, April 5 in mediation. In the wake of today’s labor strike and the uncertainty this has caused for service availability, all local bus service will be canceled until Monday. It is AVTA’s hope that mediation will bring this dispute to a close. AVTA was not given notice of today’s strike, preventing the agency from alerting customers prior to the start of scheduled service.

The majority of AVTA’s commuter service will be operating on schedule Friday and will be fully restored on Monday. The Transporter service to Newhall will be running on schedule Monday through Friday, beginning Friday March 31. A shuttle van will be running between Sgt. Steve Owen Memorial Park and the Metrolink for any commuter trips AVTA cannot cover. Metrolink will honor TAP cards for commuter bus riders Monday through Friday.

AVTA is doing everything in its capacity to help Transdev and Teamsters Local 848 bring this dispute to a close, and ensure that passengers stay informed about service. Passengers are encouraged to sign up for “Rider Alerts” or utilize AVTA’s Hotline to access current information about service disruptions.
