Antelope Valley nurses picket today outside of the A.V. Hospital.  There were hundreds of nurses who participated in the strike.  According to the California Nurses Association (CNA) the strike comes on the heels of management stance on negotiations. This stand-off puts patients in jeopardy and pushing for more cuts to the RN’s own livelihood and standards.  CNA represents more than 1,000 RN’s at AVH.

Maria Altamirano, RN, stated “As nurses, we cannot longer accept threats to our profession and to our patients.”  Altamirano said “ We want to tell the Antelope Valley Hospital; protect our patients, invest In your nurses.”

The strike which began at 7:00 A.M. September 28, 2016 and will conclude at 7:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 according to the CAN.  Temporary replacement nurses have been contracted during the strike according to Hospital officials during the strike.  This strike should affect patient care.
